It mainly boils down to us both becoming better writers over the last 12 years. I know that if my friend wrote it now, it would be much more polished. At the time, this was gold standard. My stories of that era barely got anypony in character, let alone pacing, story or themes. It may not have aged well, but that's because he and I have. I can't wait to show you what I mean.
